Stella Cullen-Hands, 47 from Wells, is a Crew Member at McDonalds in Street (part of the Lambtrad Franchise).

“I had been out of work for about eight years.
"I had two heart attacks in 2009. I think this was partly through the stress of not getting a job. I also had two operations on my hands for carpel tunnel. With my heart problems and other personal issues I became very stressed. I really wanted my own money to pay bills but I didn’t think I could get a job because of my health. I was at home all the time, and got more and more down.
“Then I met with Pluss and they helped me so much. They helped me with my CV, interview techniques and to find work experience to build my confidence. I really got my confidence back and I landed this job at McDonalds.
“If it wasn’t for Pluss, I wouldn’t be here now. I feel very happy and I have made new friends. I also got married last year.
“What I love most about my job is coming in and having a laugh. I am definitely the joker of the team. They say “Stella the star is here”.
Nikki Murden, Shift Manager, Street McDonalds (part of the Lambtrad Franchise)
“Stella is a delight to have on shift; a real pleasure. She is a joker and has banter with all the staff but it doesn’t affect her work at all. You can ask Stella to do anything and she’s straight on it. She is really efficient and works well as part of the team.
“Pluss give me fabulous staff, and are informative and supportive. We will contact each other if I’m recruiting or if they have someone suitable. They will sometimes support people at interview and we will talk things through before or during the interview process. It is also good to know they are there for support if we need them. They call in regularly to do reviews but all the staff have progressed really quickly. I can’t praise them enough and would recommend them to anyone.
“We treat everyone equally and as individuals here at McDonalds. We encourage them to try different roles so they can choose what they want to do. It is really great watching our employees’ confidence grow.”
