The Set up of Pluss
History
Pluss, originally Industrial Services Group, evolved from a joint arrangement between Devon, Plymouth and Torbay Councils. The group has provided employment and training services for people with disabilities for more than 40 years.
Following a lengthy review process in 2003, Industrial Services Group, decided to become an ‘arms length’ organisation. This has enabled us to develop and expand quality, cost effective services to disabled people in the region.
Set up
The ‘Pluss Organisation’ (Pluss) is a Local Authority Controlled Company limited by guarantee that does not distribute profits, which was established on 1st August 2005.
Pluss is jointly owned by Devon County Council, Somerset County Council, Plymouth City Council and Torbay Council.
The company is controlled and supervised through a Board of Directors. Each local authority has at least one board representative to ensure their interests are considered. We also have a number of independent directors bringing with them specific expertise and skills.
