What's lurking in your horse's bed?

aspergillus photoFungi, spores, seeds and parasites become aerosolised in hay dust and inhaled promoting an allergic response.

The resultant inflammation and constriction of the airways results in nasal discharge, wheezing and can cause the horse to fight for breath.  There is also likely to be intolerance to exercise and reduction in performance.

Aspergillus fumigatus is the most common of the 3 moulds associated with RAO - Recurrent Airway Obstruction (formerly known as COPD) and is found in hay, straw and shavings.  RAO often results from inhalation of mould spores such as Aspergillus funigatus and initiates an allergic reation.

Using SafeTbed reduces the risk of respiratory irritation and diseases related to polluted air inhalation, making it particularly beneficial to horses with RAO.
