Merlin logoPluss are delighted to have been assessed as ‘good’ by the Merlin Standard assessment team with an overall score of 80%.

The Merlin Standard has been designed to encourage excellent supply chain management and to ensure fair treatment of partners and subcontractors by prime contractors. Pluss is a prime contractor of Work Choice, the DWP’s specialist disability employment programme in Devon and Cornwall, and West Yorkshire.

Assessors identified a number of areas of excellence including ‘a genuine partnership approach’ and ‘good quality connections across a wide network of organisations’.

In the report, lead assessor, Andy Richardson said, “The starting point for the design of any new supply chain by Pluss is the question ‘how will our customers be best served and how will we address the strategic objectives of the contract?’

“Pluss and its partners establish a clear understanding of the principles upon which supply chain relationships are founded. Their collective approach to supply chain design demonstrates a collaborative and partnership driven approach and all partners confirmed a highly respectful, open and transparent approach to communications at all stages and levels.

“The scope and variety of the supply chain was found to be of a very high standard with a good representation of public, private and third sector organisations forming the network used to deliver services. The inclusion of certain Supply Chain Partners has enabled Pluss to provide support for people with learning difficulties, mental and physical health issues amongst others.”

The Merlin assessment team consisted of three assessors who reviewed a range of evidence over a four day period. This included written documentation, electronic systems and face-to-face or telephone interviews with Pluss representatives and supply chain partners.

The Merlin Standard is built upon four fundamental and integrated principles: supply chain design, commitment, conduct and review. These Principles have been designed to explore key areas of the relationship between a Prime Contractor and its Supply Chain Partners.
