Pluss Traineeships © - Intermediate Labour Markets
Times are changing. People with disabilities want inclusion not segregation. They want to be doing mainstream jobs in local communities.
In response to this, Pluss has radically modernised its commercial supported businesses with a new model, Pluss Traineeships ©.

How does it work?
The idea is that Pluss is a ‘stepping stone’ employer where people with disabilities (those furthest from the labour market) come to work on short term contracts, alongside existing staff.
During their time with Pluss they learn transferable skills in a commercial environment, gain accredited training and a reference. With intensive input from our internal training team, they are then supported by our Work Choice Employment Advisers to find work within their local communities.
Crucially, Pluss Supervisors are responsible for embedding learning and skills in the workforce. They are as responsble for ensuring people with disabilities are up-skilled and ready to work as they are to maximising business output.
“Two of the key barriers to the long – term unemployed and disadvantaged are lack of experience and employer reluctance to hire them.
The intermediate labour market …..can be particularly useful as a means of tackling these barriers…”
Paul Gregg, Realising Potential 2008.
