The Teignbridge / Torbay Placement Team support Adults with Learning Disabilities to progress into Work.
The Employment Consultants work with local employers to match you to the type of work you would like to do.
We find out more about you and your skills by:
• Basic Skills Assessment
• Vocational Profile
• Reviews
• Work skills assessment
• Working closely with your keyworker
Job coaches will support you with:
• Road and travel training
• Task analyses
• On to the job support until the support of the employer takes over
The placement team offer ongoing support and monitoring .
Case study:
Jason – I joined the Advanced Training Unit having moved to the area recently, from Surrey. This enabled me to build confidence, make new friends and maintain my work skills.
My Employment Consultant also organised for me to have work experience at a supermarket within walking distance to where I live.
The manager was so impressed with my work ethic, he offered me paid work. As a result of this, I progressed from the Advanced Training Unit last week and I am now in paid employment for 16 hours a week supported by Workstep.
