Workstep:
Workstep is a Jobcentreplus funded programme that supports people with disabilities and/or long term health issues gain and sustain paid employment. This employment can be 16 hrs or more and pays at least minimum wage. That means real jobs with real employers on your own merits.
Looking for Work?
If you are not working at the moment, this can mean helping you to decide what type of work you want, how to prepare to look for work, to support you in gaining your job and finally, to work with both you and your employer in order to support you both in making the job successful and overcoming any barriers that may arise.
We go through a process of identifying your skills and strengths, match these to your aspirations in the types of work that you would like to do, support you in your jobsearch, practise interviews, liaise with the employer on your behalf during the recruitment process, build your confidence and self esteem, and identify training and development opportunities. You will get as much support as needed because it’s your choice and your job.
Already in Work?
Workstep can also help you if you are already in work, if your disability or health issue is beginning to have impacts on you or your job role in the workplace. We can work with both you and your employer to look at trying to overcome these issues and to make both you and your employer feel more comfortable about the future. Employers prefer to keep people that they know and can rely on than to let them go.
Workstep is tailor made to each individual's needs and you are supported only as long as it is needed. We have a proven track record in gaining work for people, but more importantly enabling people to sustain the job role and progress people towards their goals.
