Community, by definition, means a group of people who feel some sense of belonging or interpersonal connection. It’s an invaluable part of today’s society.
Pluss, a social enterprise that helps people into work, and its partners are opening a ‘Pop-up Shop’ meets ‘Community Hub’ in the centre of Plymouth with the aim of pulling together the community of the city.
The hub will be open five days a week (including Saturdays) for anyone to drop in and be a part of the action. Situated at 65 New George Street, Plymouth, PL1 1RJ.
The partners include: Cosmic, Pop Plus, WorkFit, Work and Health, Live Well, Work Routes, the Learning Disability Team, the Enterprise Manufacturing team and the Positive People team and many more organisations.
All bring their own ideas and unique ways to help towards find and stay work, and improve their Health and Wellbeing through community activities.
What services will be on offer?
To name just a few, Cosmic (the digital partner) will be holding gadget shows and digital sessions. Giving people the chance to explore today’s technology advances and learn how this could help in their own day-to-day lives.
LiveWell South West will be providing free health checks, an invaluable resource that can be hard to find.
Pluss will be on hand to offer support and guidance to people who want to find work, self-employment or who are struggling in their work due to a disability or health condition.
Furthermore, with World Mental Health Day approaching (10th October), it’s more important than ever to discuss, inform and be proactive. There will be informative discussions being held, with the chance to talk to someone and seek any help needed.
We will be showcasing everything Pluss has to offer and providing 1:1 support sessions for the people of Plymouth as well as holding a variety of exciting and stimulating wellbeing activities.
How to know what is on and when?
There will be timetables on view in the window and regular updates on our social media (https://www.facebook.com/BBOPositivePeople/ and https://www.facebook.com/PlussInspires/), displaying all the activities and when they’ll be so that anyone can check themselves in for workshops that they feel will benefit.
Snacks and refreshments will be also available daily.
The shop will remain open throughout half-term as well, holding fun, creative and colourful family-friendly activities!
