Our specialist learning disability services in Plymouth support over 80 people with learning disabilities to get ready for, and move towards and into work.
Normally this would be in our busy training units, however during this unusual time, with everyone social distancing in their own homes, we are supporting our customers in lots of new ways.
This is through welfare calls often over video, so we can see lovely faces, through letters including easy read letters and cards, emails and messaging and the very occasional home and community contact.
We have been awe-inspired with how well our customers have been supported by their families and carers. Our Pluss staff have advised when needed, such as with getting food deliveries or getting medication or health appointments.
In our area, Age Concern and the Plymouth Care Initiative have also been great. Plymouth City Council, our funders, have been very supportive and organised. Our customers have really appreciated the contact from their keyworkers at Pluss.
We are very much looking forward to re-opening in a safe and appropriate way and can’t wait to see all our customers back in the unit!
Here are some photos of happy and busy times in the units and out and about!
