Four Seetec Pluss participants are about to start a brand new chapter having succesfully secured work with seafood restaurant, Rockfish.
Seetec Pluss have been working closely with Rockfish to develop a bespoke four day work experience programme at their new restaurant in Weymouth. The course was designed to offer our participants the core skills required to work in hospitality and catering.
Derek, Stuart, Timothy and Sharon were able to demonstrate their amazing talents during the four days and have all now started work at Rockfish. Another participant, Amanda, has also successfully found paid work with another local business.
They will receive great rates of pay, promotion opportunities, excellent training via Rockfish's seafood academy, staff discounts, free paddleboard hire and other perks including a company pension scheme.
All five participants are over the moon about their new adventure in employment.
"I am so excited about my training period for the next three weeks and look forward to starting work as a cleaner", says Sharon, one of Rockfish's fantastic new employees. "I enjoyed the routeway training week and also the company of the other participants. I was so pleased that I passed all the course work and gained the food hygeine certificate. I attended the induction at Rockfish and enjoyed the talk about the company. I loved that we were given Rockfish t-shirts to wear."
Carly Gadsden-Mellowship, People and Training Manager at Rockfish told us that Rockfish believe in opportunities for everyone. "Training and development is at the heart of everything we do and we really spend time focusing on it so that people love what they do", says Carly. "We have many internal success stories at Rockfish and working with Andrea and the team at Seetec Pluss has been a great experience for our new opening at Weymouth”.
In total, 10 Seetec Pluss participants attended the course and gained a good understanding of customer service, the fundamentals of teamwork and how to give customers a positive impression.
All the participants were supported to successfully pass their Level Two Food Hygiene and Safety Certificate. They also gained an understanding of health and safety in the workplace and secure working environments. They received interview preparation and techniques ready for their interview with Rockfish, and then attended an interview. The rest, as they say, is history!
Rockfish opened it's restaurant in Weymouth in August 2019. We are also looking forward to working with them again when they open a new restaurant in Poole later this year.
About Rockfish - Sustainable seafood restaurants on England's seafood coast
Rockfish restaurants are located by the sea and specialise in serving fresh, local and sustainable seafood. Their fish is selected each day at market where it is prepared on the harbourside by skilled fishmongers and delivered each morning to their restaurants.
Their menu features classic seafood dishes and all the favourites like dressed crab, oysters, prawns and traditional fish and chips; but the real stand out is the daily selection of seafood which gets marked up at the tablecloth by the waiter who will explain the cooking method of each one, whether it be chargrilled, roasted or crisp fried.
There is something for everyone at Rockfish and they believe that people want to eat more seafood. It's healthy, delicious and there is no better experience than eating fish overlooking the water from which it was caught.
