Pluss and Abilities join forces
Pluss and Abilities are pleased to announce that we are coming together on our journey to help transform the lives of our customers, which include people from the most disadvantaged groups in society.
The Pluss and Abilities boards met last week to agree that Abilities will become part of the Pluss family. Pluss is now the sole trustee of Abilities with immediate effect.
The two organisations have worked closely together for over six years and share a vision that everyone should have the opportunity to find employment and achieve a career. Both companies are passionate in their belief that with the right support, most people can succeed in work.
Pluss and Abilities currently work together to deliver Building Better Opportunities (BBO) and the new Work and Health Programme in the Southern region.
Robbie Cormack, CEO of Abilities, explains “As we became closer through the commissioning of the Work and Health programme, it became apparent to both parties that joining forces would be highly beneficial. The two companies work extremely well together and compliment each other in terms of skills set. Pluss is able to offer us their considerable expertise, resources and systems. Likewise, Abilities has a wealth of experience in delivering a range of employability, training and skills programmes”
Steve Hawkins, CEO of Pluss added “This is a really positive move for both organisations. Working together means that we can build capacity for our current delivery, and maximise our opportunities to extend the range of services which we can offer to our customers and commissioners. We are committed to continuous development and innovation, and joining with Abilities can only help in achieving this"
Abilities will continue to operate independently but will benefit from Pluss’ support and scale.
Abilities is an established training provider with over 20 years experience in helping people back into employment. They are a non-profit making charity working closely with the local community and businesses to support people back into work.

Pluss is a Community Interest Company (CIC) specialising in welfare to work services for people with disabilities, health conditions and other disadvantages. We have a proud heritage of supporting people with complex needs and believe that with the right support, most people can find work and build a career.
They are the prime provider of the Work and Health programme in Southern England, and sub-contractor in North West England, Greater Manchester and London. Pluss delivers employability contracts on behalf of the DWP, Big Lottery Fund, European Social Fund, Local Authorities and the NHS.
