Sarah was referred to Pluss' Work and Health Programme by Jobcentre Plus.
Sarah had previously undertaken voluntary work but her placement was coming to an end. Sarah met with her Change Coach to discuss her career options and the support we could offer.
Sarah is very motivated, a good communicator and very quickly engaged with the Work and Health Programme. She regularly attended appointments and participated in learning opportunities. With her confidence growing, she started to use the IT Suite independently although she knew she could still access support from her Change Coach when she needed. She also had regular phone contact with her Change Coach to talk things through. She was always keen to talk through any possible employment opportunities, the potential barriers and whether it was realistic to apply.
Sarah has severe back problems, anxiety and depression. She recognises that often she takes on more than she should which results in her struggling to cope. We agreed that the best way forward was for Sarah to take small steps and initially look at part-time work.
Sarah had previously studied fashion and design, and worked in fashion retail. She loves dealing with people and one of her many strengths is her communication skills. We therefore focused on these areas when job searching. Sarah had a number of interviews and has now secured a 20 hour a week post at a fashion retailers in the city centre.
Sarah will continue to be supported by her Change Coach whilst she settles into her new post. She is also keen to pursue more training opportunities to further her skills base.
Sarah says "You helped me tremendously and helped me to feel confident again. I don't know what I would have done without your support and your belief in me."
Huge congratulations, Sarah!
The Work and Health Programme is co-financed by the European Social Fund.
